Sri Lanka entry fees, 2026
Foreign-visitor rates at the major sites. These are the line items that quietly add a few hundred dollars to a two-week trip, which is why the calculator itemises them instead of burying them in a daily average.

What sits behind the number
Rooms, not people
Two travellers share a room; an odd traveller gets their own. This is why the per-person cost drops sharply between one and two people and then flattens.
Nights, not days
A twelve-day trip is eleven nights. Counting days would overstate accommodation by roughly a twelfth.
Vehicles are shared, buses are not
A car or tuk-tuk costs the same whatever the party size, so it divides. Train and bus fares are charged per person.
A range, not a number
The output spans roughly minus 10 to plus 20 percent. Season, exact hotels and the number of times you say yes to something all move the real figure.

How does this Sri Lanka trip cost calculator work?
You set the length of the trip, how many people are travelling, the standard of accommodation you want, how you plan to get around, and which paid sites you intend to visit. It multiplies those against real 2026 market rates and returns a range rather than a single figure, because nobody sticks exactly to a plan. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to us unless you choose to.
How accurate is the estimate?
It is built from the same market rates published across this site and reviewed in August 2026, and it deliberately returns a band of roughly minus 10 to plus 20 percent. It will get you a realistic budget. It is not a quotation — for that, send us the summary and we will price your actual dates.
What is not included in the calculation?
International flights, visa or ETA fees, travel insurance, tips, shopping and alcohol. Everything else — accommodation, food, transport and the site entry fees you select — is included.
Why is a solo trip more expensive per person?
Because rooms and vehicles cost the same whether one person uses them or four. A private driver at US$70 a day is $70 for one traveller and $17.50 each for four. The calculator reflects this: it assumes two people share a room and that a vehicle is shared by the whole party.
How much does a two-week trip to Sri Lanka cost?
Very roughly, for two people over fourteen days: US$1,300–2,100 travelling budget-friendly on public transport and guesthouses, $3,100–5,300 with a private driver and boutique hotels, and $8,400 upwards at the premium end.
